Introducing MyID MFA & PSM v5.3
We’re excited to announce the release of MyID MFA & PSM v5.3, bringing powerful new authentication capabilities, expanded platform support, and refined security controls to help organizations strengthen their authentication solutions.
Security Phrases:
Security phrases replace passwords with long, random, memorable phrases offering enhanced protection. Their length and randomness increase entropy, preventing guessing or cracking, while memorability reduces insecure password storage. When enabled, users authenticate with security phrases instead of passwords. Phrases are server-generated, with users able to regenerate new ones themselves using the Self Service Portal or the Windows Desktop Agent.
Pattern Grid Updates
Pattern grids have been updated for better security and usability. MyID MFA v5.3 introduces support for 4×4 and 5×5 grid dimensions, with the 5×5 grid recommended as the optimal balance of security and user experience.
These grids incorporate both numbers and letters for enhanced complexity while thoughtfully excluding confusingly similar characters (like 1/i and 0/o) and characters with descenders (like y and p) for improved clarity. Administrators now have granular control, specifying exactly which grid sizes are allowed rather than simply setting a minimum. New installations default to the recommended 5×5 configuration, while upgrades respect your existing settings.
Windows Server 2025 Ready
MyID MFA & PSM v5.3 now fully supports Windows Server 2025 across critical components including domain controllers, the MyID ADFS Agent, the MyID Exchange Agent, and External Identities—ensuring seamless integration with your modernized server environment.
Real-Time System Visibility
The new System Dashboard brings real-time monitoring directly into Microsoft Management Console (MMC), providing administrators with instant visibility into system status and improved operational control—all from a familiar management interface.
Expanded FIDO Token Support
Hardware security key options have grown beyond YubiKey devices. The Windows Desktop Agent now supports additional FIDO tokens from trusted manufacturers:
- Swissbit iShield Key 2 Pro Mifare USB-C
- Onespan Digipass FX7
This expansion gives organizations greater flexibility in hardware token deployment while maintaining robust security standards.
Additional Platform & Feature Updates
Windows for ARM64 Support: MyID MFA & PSM v5.3 now runs natively on Windows on ARM64 architecture, supporting organizations adopting ARM-based devices.
Proactive Password Security: Browser notifications for compromised passwords now include direct links to password change pages when available, streamlining the remediation process and encouraging prompt security action.
Enhanced Authentication Controls: The Windows Desktop Agent now defaults to restricting access to only the authentication technology specified in the Authentication Provider UI GPO setting. Administrators can enable the Allow Any Authentication Type GPO setting if broader authentication flexibility is required, giving you precise control over authentication methods.
