MyID showcases interoperability with OSIA digital identity framework
Intercede has demonstrated MyID’s credential management and mobile ID capabilities in a newly released video from the OSIA (Open Standards Identity APIs) working group.
A global initiative from the Secure Identity Alliance (SIA), the OSIA working group comprises of leading identity vendors, and representatives from African and Asia-Pacific countries. All parties are working together for the shared aim of creating a truly interoperable digital identity framework.
The purpose of the identity framework, which OSIA members including Intercede are working toward, is a global standard which ensures that technology from digital identity vendors seamlessly integrates together. Interoperability which makes it easy for governments to choose whichever blend of vendor technologies they want for their digital identity deployment. Modularity that means it is easy to add or replace technology in the identity ecosystem, avoiding vendor lock in and saving valuable time and disruption in integrating and managing digital identities.
The ID Credential Issuance Demo
To show how the core building blocks of a digital identity system can seamlessly integrate, OSIA working group members have created a demonstration based on a live interoperability trial.
In the video the use case of a government issuing a citizen identity, as both a physical card and digitally to a mobile device is shown.
For the enrolment stage we see four citizens’ details captured by four different vendors; OSD, Coppernic, Orange, and Laxton.
All of the data captured is them able to flow across to two systems, the demographic data is captured by IN Groupe’s population registry system, where a unique identifier number is created and data is stored. Biometric information captured is processed by Idemia’s biometric system, where a de-duplication process takes place and data is stored.
The system is now ready to create an identity card for the citizen and so the data is passed through into Intercede’s MyID credential management system. MyID uses the citizen’s captured information to create their identity card, which can then be printed and handed to the citizen.
For the citizen’s mobile-based identity we now see four additional options for each citizen to have their identity created on their mobile device: OSD, Gravity, Intercede MyID, Idemia.
All citizens now have a secure digital identity on a card and stored within their mobile device for proving their identity and easily accessing citizen systems and resources provided by their government.
The interoperability of systems from multiple vendors in possible by each implementing the open standard APIs specific by OSIA.
Like SIA and OSIA, Intercede is committed to the provision of digital identities for the secure, seamless access of citizens and employees to the information and services they need, via the devices they want to use. We believe interoperability is fundamental to this and that is why our MyID credential management software offers extensive integration capabilities.
