Intercede join global ID interoperability initiative at inaugural OSIA meeting between governments and industry
Intercede recently joined digital identity specialists and senior government stakeholders from African nations at the inaugural OSIA Advisory Committee meeting in Cannes, France.
Launched by the Secure Identity Alliance (SIA), OSIA (Open Standards Identity APIs) is a global initiative aimed at solving the interoperability challenges within the identity sector.
Through a collaborative approach, OSIA aims to bring key industry parties together to enable seamless connectivity between all components of the identity management ecosystem. OSIA achieves interoperability among solutions from different vendors, levels the playing field and enables the secure and controlled flow of data and services.
The inaugural meeting focused on bringing senior government stakeholders from Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Uganda together to help shape the digital identity system nation states need.
Top priorities which came from the meeting include an update to current specifications and use cases, the establishment of an OSIA certification programme and the development of a contractual framework that focuses on assuring data portability, interoperability and seamless exit strategies.
Like SIA and OSIA, Intercede is committed to the provision of digital identities for the secure, seamless access of citizens and employees to the information and services they need, via the devices they want to use. We believe interoperability is fundamental to this and that is why our MyID credential management software offers extensive integration capabilities.
