Intercede Collaborates with VMware to Offer Secure, Device-Based Mobile Solution for U.S. Federal Government

New derived credentials solution will allow government employees to access systems and services remotely while remaining compliant with stringent security standards

London, England / Washington, DC – June 12 2017 – Today, cybersecurity and identity management expert Intercede, has announced that Intercede MyID will now be available for VMware Workspace ONE and VMware AirWatch to provide secure mobile and remote access for U.S. Federal Government employees.

Through Intercede MyID technology, VMware Workspace ONE™ and VMware AirWatch® users can use keys and certificates to grant employees access to secure mail, browsers and other apps on their mobile devices. Intercede MyID allows enterprises to replace employee passwords with more secure and convenient digital identities on smart cards, virtual smart cards and mobile devices. To access this capability, federal government employees can use existing Personal Identity Verification (PIV) smart cards at a self-service kiosk to authenticate to the system to provision keys and certificates to their mobile devices.

VMware Workspace ONE and VMware AirWatch helps control access privileges through the management of devices, the configuration of apps and the application of security policies to protect sensitive government data. Users will be able to leverage Intercede’s MyID technology and mobile software development kit (SDK) through a derived credentials solution for secure mobility, which will provide increased mobile credentialing capability in compliance with stringent security standards for strong authentication and mobile working (FIPS 201-2 / Special Publication 800-157).

Government is a highly regulated industry and one that cannot afford to be the victim of easily avoided data breaches or cyber hacks. The repercussions of poor authentication for a government department could be serious and far-reaching, which means security should never be taken lightly,” said Richard Parris, CEO at Intercede. “Allowing customers to leverage the capabilities of VMware AirWatch and Intercede solutions is low impact to the user, easy to use and will assist government departments in managing who has access to privileged data.”

End-users today want to be able to use the tools and devices they prefer to complete their day-to-day roles. While the U.S. Federal Government handles data of a highly sensitive nature, employee productivity and flexibility should not need to be compromised,” said Adam Rykowski, vice president, product management, Mobile Products, End-User Computing, VMware. “The collaboration between VMware and Intercede can provide our mutual government and corporate customers with a solution that is simple for end-users and powerful for employers who want their systems to remain safe and secure while employees work wherever they may be.”
