Key Maritime Credentialing Program Assisted by Intercede Technology

London, UK (PRWEB) October 22, 2008 -- Intercede Group (AIM:IGP), the producer of the Intercede MyID® Identity and Credential Management System, is pleased to confirm today that it is playing a critical role in support of Lockheed Martin and its work on the United States Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Worker Identification Credential program (TWIC). The world's largest maritime credentialing initiative, enrolments in the program currently exceed 500,000 applicants at approximately 149 port locations nationwide.
The TWIC program's goal is to ensure that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough government background check and is not a security threat; individuals will then be issued a biometric-based credential. Intercede's IDCMS software product enables the seamless integration of the credential with the relevant IT infrastructure at each location.
